Life in the Hood…

April 9, 2011 — 1 Comment

Okay… so we don’t REALLY live in “the hood”, but here is what’s been going down this afternoon.

4:25 pm: A 46-year-old man has barricaded himself inside his home and has threatened to ignite gasoline that he poured on the front porch, police said.

The man came out of his home with a knife and a stick earlier today and cut a neighbor, police said.

The incident began at 1:09 p.m., not 1:40 p.m., police said.

Clovis firefighters are on the scene because of the potential for an arson fire.

4:48 pm: The suspect has been identified as Angel Aguilera, a wanted felon who was being sought on a $500,000 warrant for burglary, police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said.

Aguilera has started a fire in his garage, she said.

5:25 pm: Tear gas has been fired into the home.

5:55 pm: Angel Aguilera has been taken into custody, police spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee said.

It sure was CRAZY! Seeing guys running around in full gear with automatic rifles and riot shields. Police cars, fire trucks, news vans, K-9 units and people crowding the “Police Line Do Not Cross” tape. If you click on the picture at the top you or here can see the whole image of that little SWAT type vehicle that was outside in front of our driveway.

It’s been interesting to say the least.

Yikes! Not the kind of excitement one wants to see out their front window. Glad you are safe.
