Why I Do What I Do?

I read these few lines this morning from John Mark McMillan’s blog and was struck by them…

I don’t sing about Jesus because I want to spread a message. I don’t sing about Jesus because it’s the Christian thing to do. If I sing about Jesus, it’s for one simple reason, and that’s because I believe he’s worth singing about.

And i thought about how i could change the word “sing” to the words “make videos”… or how i hoped i could. I want that to be true of what i do. And most of the time it is.

Most of the time i can say:

“I don’t make videos about Jesus because I want to spread a message. I don’t make videos about Jesus because it’s the Christian thing to do. If I make videos about Jesus, it’s for one simple reason, and that’s because I believe he’s worth making videos about.”

And other times it’s for myself… and discerning the difference is a daily process for me. But i guess that’s why, in Phil. 2:12, we are told to “work out our salvation”.

What about you? What could/should you change the word “sing” to?
